Mari Smultea, PhD


Mari leads Smultea Sciences' research, monitoring, and mitigation team, drawing on her 30 years' experience working worldwide on projects related to the Endangered Species Act and Marine Mammal Protection Act. Her scientific findings are presented at international conferences and in publications. Mari earned her PhD from Texas A&M University studying habitat use and behavioral ecology of southern California cetaceans. She has led and grown Smultea Sciences since 2000. Outside of marine wildlife, Mari is recognized for her passion for competitive endurance horseback riding.
